A rollercoaster week in stocks from the White Houses' tariff plans sent bond prices lower and rates surging higher with the average 30-year mortgage rate coming in at 7.1% according to Mortgage News Daily. Further igniting the bond market's surge in rates was the consumer sentiment report released today that said consumer's inflation expectations rose from 5% in March to 6.7% in April.
