Dec. 18, 2024: Fed cuts by a quarter point, indicates fewer reductions ahead.

As widely anticipated, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by an additional 25 basis points, (now down 100 basis points from the peak of the rate hiking cycle). However, Jerome Powell had a cautionary tone for future rate cuts in 2025 which took the markets by surprise.
